Faction Warfare - As Little Info As I Can Give You

Only a small bit of info, because there's a lot about Faction Warfare I haven't read about, or bothered asking about yet. But it'll come.

I wanted to write about my faction warfare experiences only after I got my first kills. I didn't want to do another of those preparing and leading up to posts. Tonight was that night. Gotta say, the entire Minmatar militia are good, mature people. And a tight group too. For as many alliances involved on the Minmatar side, not a lot of e-peen and ego wagging happening. At least not publicly.

Some quick notes on my first evening of faction warfare -- thoughts and other stuff:
  1. The Amarr are pretty damned disorganized. Was little fleet discipline among them. They kept warping in on us in singles to begin, and then they all scattered in a following encounter, letting us kill a Drake.
  2. Fweddit, like Dreddit, get completely OCD on some fad phrase and then repeat it ad nauseum in local. June is "BIG PLAYS!" month. Arg. I can't wait until July, though their new fad phrase will likely be as annoying. Maybe it's just Fweddit that is annoying.
  3. Circled some minor outpost for 10 minutes, got 999 loyalty points.
  4. Ended up at the end of the couple hour evening, with ~3000 loyalty points. I still don't know what to buy or where to buy, but I'll look into that when I accumulate another 97000 points.
  5. I got me five final blows on ten kills tonight. Not bad. Doesn't get my anything extra, other than it looks good on my character's combat log in-game.
  6. Was disappointed to learn that Gallente and Minmatar don't really fight together. The Gallente/Caldari warzone is not connected to the Minmatar/Amarr warzone. So I don't get to kill any Fancy Hats.
  7. Because the Minmatar militia mostly fly Minmatar ships, it would be unwise for me to use any of my Gallente ship skills. (Unless I want to be primaried every fight.) But that's okay, gives me a reason to shuffle up the 1300 day skill plan, toss some of the Minmatar ship and projectile gun skills near the head of the list. I'm in a Thrasher currently, and doing some training to get into a Rupture.

I plan on giving a lot more detail on how faction warfare works, but I have yet to put any effort in figuring that out. Right now, just joining fleets and following instructions.

The verdict? It was a shitload of fun. Can't wait to do it again this weekend.

  1. I hope you realize what you refer to as "annoying" other Minmatar see as endearing, and friendly banter. We're in it for the fun. We come across as trolls because we come from the internet - it's what happens. At our core, though, we're helping bring you guys fights, teaching folks how to play the game*, and just having fun.

When you see those 20+ "gf"s up in local, we mean them.

    * 9 times out of 10 when a new player asks "how do I learn pvp" the answer is "go to lowsec with a stack of frigates and lose them all." this is what we're doing. next up: cruisers.

    1. Stop being so serious. I'm not. :) And I thought the fights were fun. Half the reason for that was Fweddit.

Without Fweddit, Minmatar would have no one to fight.

    2. I stand by this comment (coming from a minmatar pilot flying regular in the main fleets), Fweddit are great guys! they give us fights, they dont run if we fight them in the same ship classes, and we have a ton of fun.

smacking in local? .... part of the action :)

    3. Alot say fweddit our gr8 because they all know of the 0.0 alts. As for teaching and having fun, yes fun to fly in groups but teaching about fw.
Another corp like goons, long term they do more harm then good for fw.
They will get so big the other side will be hardly be around then they Just turn on and war dec corps on same side.

  2. I don't know why you need to toe the line with Minnie hulls. For FW, Gallente is fine. If you have boss drone skills a 1600-plated Vexor is stupidly effective against swarms of frigs; following is 28K EHP, 177 drone DPS / 328 inc blasters.

Otherwise, use a railcat (150's, MWD + SeBo, MAPCII CPUII, TEII = 600 volley @ 30km, just kite) and sit in the inside of small plexes and pick them off as they land.

    1. I'd rather not be the lone Gallente ship in a mass of Minmatar ships ... that's called *being primaried every fight*.

    2. My Minmatar ships skills are fine (at the frig and destroyer level). So are my small projectile skills. I'm just working the cruiser and medium projectile now. I don't plan to go beyond Rupture, and will go back to finishing my Gunnery support skills at that point.

    3. I agree with Trinkets, fly what you want to fly mate. I have an alt that I use to fly Gallente ships frequently in plexes (Thorax is my current fav), and I don't really get primaried. It has far more to do with who you are in a lot of cases, or whether you were the first one to warp in or not. Faction Warfare is great BECAUSE our fleets are a little more mixed and you can really fly whatever you like as long as it has a similar range and tank to your friends.

Welcome again to Faction Warfare, looking forward to flying with you this weekend! It's been a busy week and I haven't gotten out as much as I would have liked.

    4. BIG PLAYS!
(Also, I sometimes fly the lone catalyst in a group of thrashers, dont get primaried, and get top damage and final blow alot, cause blasters)

    5. No one primaries "Gallente ships in the all Minmatar fleet." If you think that; you're just dumb. Gallente is excellent for solo/small-gang that dominates FW. Fly your ships, and rake in mad kills.

  5. I'm interested in joining FW - Minmatar side - I haven't been playing for long so I was wondering is there a FW corp you'd recommend? Or how is the best way to get into it? Thanks

    1. You can't go wrong with Autocannons Anonymous or Ka Pow Pow. I'm not familiar with many of the corps and alliances.

    2. Doesn't Autocannons Anonymous require 15M SP? I know I have no chance of getting there with my 7.5mil, and Im not sure if Ka Pow Pow is recruiting. Any other suggestions?

    3. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I would think they'd be happy to have as many bodies as possible.

    4. I'm looking on the forum thread for the corp. I'm not gonna apply because I don't want to be "that dickhead who can't read".

I'm still searching though, if all goes well I'll join Minmatar soon enough.

    5. 7.3 mil SP. I can T2 fit a battleship like the forum thread asks if that makes it any better lol.

    6. autocannons are a bunch of dicks. they're well known in the militia not for being good, but for being said dicks. they regularly shoot at friendly militia for matters as trivial as "stealing plexes" (which happen to be public domain). if you want a good group, dont join autoz. they are a elitist pricks who will treat you like shit for not honoring their "clique".

  6. Fun fact: you're significantly more likely to get primaried in that thrasher than you would be in a gallente ship, simply because the perceived threat increase thrashers provide. Even if you were in a vexor, thrashers are often targeted first because they're easy dps to take down. Honestly, in my experience minmatar ships are more likely to be primaried all the way up through battlecruiser class for precisely that reason.

  7. I actually think, but don't know for a fact, that if you do fly a gallente ship in a minmatar fleet, you will get primaried less. Canes are alot squishier then let's say an armor brutix or shield/armor myrm. If I was FCing the fleet, and I do FC small gangs from time to time, a gallente ship would be one of the last on my primary list.

But, if you run across a big gang, they'll probably primary you first for the giggles lol.

  8. I so need to take the plunge and just get over seeing myself explode.

  9. Needs more Fweddit, otherwise good post. 7/10

  10. Yeah, maing, fly what you want to fly and are best at, providing it more-or-less fits in with your fleet's overall approach.

(Arazu with multiple long-points and scrams in the mids, by the way :))

If I were an FC, then the first thing I would primary would be the 'Canes, too. The shield/kiter ones are fairly squishy, and also not the easiest/most forgiving ships in the world to fly.

    Pew-pew!
