The @CCP_Manifest Bump

I wrote some words the other day, about player ability versus skillpoints and ISK, a view to the aspiring new player, who might be wondering how they can compete with older players. I thought it was a pretty good article. CCP Manifest, who manages the EVE Online (@EVEOnline) Twitter feed, agreed. (I think he agreed, he could have just been trying to link a Mittani article, and accidentally pasted my link instead.) I feel honoured that he thought so.

He linked the article in the Twitter feed, and I was the fortunate recipient of the CCP Manifest bump. Or, more accurately, giant spike.
A week of blog traffic, each data point is a single hour.
That's just a ridiculous spike in traffic. I like graphs, so I'll enjoy looking at it for the next week.

  1. I got one in March when we ganked that PL Titan. I called it "The Manifest Effect". The "Manifest Bump" sounds better tho' :)

  2. How about you quit crapping up the CSM 7 Spring Summit Minutes Progress thread in Jita Speaker's Corner on EO with your personal agenda?

Your personal attacks are not contributing in any way to the progress of the minutes at this point.

Or are you trying to find a way to stay relevant after your 15 minutes of fame?

    1. The minutes are complete. They are simply waiting for CCP final approval and devblog to go along with them. They'll be available in 7 - 10 days. That thread is pointless, the English-speaking side of the CSM has done it's work.

    2. Thanks for posting my comment. I was aware of the status of the minutes and personally thought it best to keep that thread clear.

If there are issues with particular csm members, perhaps a separate thread might be best to address those concerns?

  3. I love the crazy bumps when they happen, but then my monthly stats are completely worthless until it drops off and I go back to my regular traffic.

  4. It's even crazier when he mentions it on Facebook. Here's mine from just before Crucible:

    1. That bump of his gave me 6500 views yesterday, plus carry over of about 2500 today. You got a tonne more with a Facebook mention. I don't do the Facebook thing, so have no idea what's going on there.

On a day that I make a post, I get 800-1500 views out of that post, more if it's a somewhat controversial subject. My top five posts this year are all over 4000 views. The bottom five are all over 2000 views.

My Uni posts were always quite popular ... though, I'm happy to say that my top 10 posts this year, none are Uni related. Writing about the Uni eventually became dull and repetitive. Besides, they can be legitimately wardecced, so there's little to bithc about anymore, they can no longer hide from the game (except via their own suffocating rules.)

  5. I once got a mention on CCP's facebook page for this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3avFWEadgE and literally got 15k views on it overnight. CCP bamps, best bamps.
