Faction Warfare - Fweddit Update

My last post on the Fweddit move to the Caldari militia. It was written as a response to a post by Pinky Feldman. Someone whom I respect. Someone who is not Fweddit. Who I assume doesn't have access to the top decision-making in that organization.

There might have been some bitterness in my last post. I mean, who the hell are we going to fight now? Shalee and friends?

There was little to go with, the exact reasons for the Fweddit move. Until Pinky's post, all Fweddit communiques furthered only the Cobalt Reach/Rise/Edge troll, or later, mocking those who fell for it. Until learning more, I didn't quite know what to think about a move to Intrepid Crossing space. It sounded a little crazy, outlandish, and, well, kinda retarded. Which is why I poked some fun at them until more was made known.

Eventually it became clear they were moving to Caldari space. Pinky made her post. It was all I had to go on. So I wrote about it. I still think the reasons expressed in his post were flimsy, at best.

Now Xolve has posted. He's a Fweddit dude, I respect. He's made the reasons for the move a lot clearer. And they all make sense. Basically, it boils down to three reasons.

First, access to a wider variety of fights. They have more access to all of Gallente space, it's easier to get deep into Gallente space from Caldari highsec systems. They also have better access to nullsec, especially Syndicate and Tribute. Basically, they can get a wider variety of fights within about ten jumps of their staging system. So, whereas they will end up fighting the same Gallente over and over, they have the option of mixing it up for the membership, when things are slow in the faction warfare systems. As Pinky said, they can keep things from become stale over in Ishomilken.

Two, is an economic reason. Amarr is an unattractive trade hub. It's not as well-stocked as Jita, and is quite a bit more expensive. With Fweddit's ship replacement program, this was becoming an expensive option. In Ishomilken, they are nine jumps from Jita. In terms of reshipping, keeping members in ships, and the costs associated with purchasing and hauling, this will be a better option for them.

Three is also economic, but at a member level, rather than the macro alliance level. Fweddit members simply could not earn money in the Amarr militia. Not when they don't enjoy much about faction warfare beyond PvP. With the Caldari currently doing the dull work of managing the warzone, Fweddit can come in and do what it does best. Create havoc. As well, being in the Caldari allows their members to earn loyalty points in a variety of different ways. Some will, undoubtedly plex, which will help the militia overall. There's also a wider variety of money-making options in the form of Gurista deadspace and missioning.

I still don't think they tried hard enough in the Amarr, but Fweddit's factional warfare mission statement is not Late Night's or Iron Oxide's. It didn't work well for them here. Caldari space, they are convinced, will serve their purpose as an alliance perfectly. Time will tell, but after reading Xolve's post on the matter, I'm apt to believe it is the best thing for them.

I'll miss them. Well, I won't miss being primaried all the fucking time, but other than that, I'll miss their in-game intellectual disability, and their expertise at shitting up local. And for making me laugh.

  1. We'll miss you too PS, we've got to find new bloggers for whom we shall shit up local. It's mildly annoying, between this and XLOVE's blog I've got nothing to write about for the day.

It's been fun mate (actual mate, not homosexual)

    Fly stupid.

  3. I, for one, welcome our new plexing fleet whelping overlords.

Seriously though I think this will be interesting. I think a lot of Minmatar fleets will start roaming through calliente space to get fights, Caldari will have fleets featuring organized, fairly tightly-knit cores, augmented by blobs of fwedditors. Should make for some INTERESTING fleets.

    1. Sorry but Caldari and organized don't belong in the same sentence

    2. Which is exactly why all of us disorganized Amarr will fit in perfectly! But on a serious note, Poe, Xolve probably explained things clearer. I'd like to add that within our merry coalition, there are a few overlapping and and a few unique problems that this move is intending to fix for the various involved groups.

  5. So why again should any independent or noob like myself join the currently losing side of FW? I mean if you've got high skills, a big group, or money to burn for outlandish fights sure. But how about a 6M SP player?

    1. There are few outlandish fights in FW. I mainly fly destroyers and assault frigates, with the occasional cruiser. You'll find lots of success with 6M SP.

And the side doesn't matter so much, what you want is an active group who seek out good fights.

  6. Not only is The Gallente-Caldari warzone best suited for Fweddit/Moar Tears ambitions, it is best suited for everyone. They will enjoy exploring the many pockets and enclaves of this area which includes lowsec Lonetrek, Citadel, Black Rise, and Placid.

There are many smaller corps on both Gal/Cal side which live throughout the warzone and have their own meaningful impact on the greater war itself.
