Still no word on a medal from CCP. What I do know is that they are looking into it, and will announce when they've made a decision. It's not code that is built-in to the game. It's something a dev has to manually give qualifying players.
I'll be disappointed if I don't get a medal, but if CCP decides that they don't want to do it (or don't have the time), I'm not going to be terribly upset about it either. I, of course, will read the threadnaught of rage that will erupt over the issue on the forums. The EVE Online forums are always good reading when it comes to drama and anger over entitlement issues.
Last week I was of the mind that this medal (if we get one) will be a tad undervalued due to the remaining Amarr rolling over, giving up. But this week, I've come around to a different view of the situation. Fuck the Amarr. Even without Fweddit and Moar Tears and Lost Obsession, they still have more than enough pilots that they could have held one or two systems (nothing is a certainty, but they would have made it exceptionally difficult at the very least.) If the Amarr want to roll over like submissive dogs, then that is their choice. I'm sure there'll be the "we gave it to you" propaganda from the Amarr, but since they didn't prove they could keep total system dominance from us, their complaints are a moot and indefensible point.
There's still Sahtogas. If they want to stop us from achieving a goal we desire, they still have the opportunity of making that point.
Minmatar loyalty point farmers must be slightly annoyed. Nothing at all down south for them to farm. I'm sure most have already moved up to Caldari space. But the squids have been much more active in chasing farmers from plexes, so it isn't going to be quite the AFK activity it was down in Minmatar space the last week and a bit.
I'm currently at 1.2M loyalty points. Worth about 8B ISK, given the commodities I'll purchase from the LP store and then sell on the market. I've spreadsheeted about one-quarter of the loyalty point store, and know exactly what I'll be purchasing and at what quantities. I'll probably mission a bit more, see if I can get that to 1.5M loyalty points, and then assist with the push for Sahtogas a little later tonight.
After this weekend, no more missioning, no more solo plexing, for a good long while. I am completely burned-out on those activities. So damned boring. (Well, Fweddit Mumble made some of it less lonely and painful.)
Congrats if your able to do it. I do understand, though, about the whole burned out thing. After our tier 4 push I didn't want to log into eve for like a week. Pushing for an achievement takes its toll (whether it be a well defended system, a high tier, or total control). We'll meet on the battlefield though.

ReplyDeleteI personally don't like to give my enemy bragging rights of any kind. But this is a guerilla war. We need to pick and choose our fights. If our enemy is in Sahtogas in force and backed by booster alts then we should be in Kamela which was at 60% contested a day ago before I started my current work cycle in rl.
ReplyDeleteYou are not going to see fleets of 30 slamming into eachother. Instead it will be alot of solo and 2v2 and 3v3 and so on. That will be the new model.
Some do care about sov and system ownership. Unfortunately those are the most likely to leave. I too have earned 1.8 million LP since the Amarr cash out. Mine is only worth 1 billion isk though. It is very hard to fight while losing month after month if that isk prize is your main motivation.

So generally, everyone relatively somewhat informed about EVE (excluding ostrich-bears and CCP Devs, both classes being generally accepted as completely fucking clueless with regards to the regular "goings-on" of EVE) knows that FW is being "gamed", "farmed", however you want to put it ... why would CCP hand out a medal for that?

Now, if they really wanted to make "EVE = Real", once the Minmatar got to about 3/4 system control, Amarr hisec systems should start becoming "vulnerable". ;-)
