PvP in faction warfare has been in decline since August. The numbers are kind of startling. Hopefully Retribution will prove to be a reboot for it all. Here's hoping. (I'll post some of these numbers, maybe even some graphs, in a day or two.)
There are still fights to be had. Not as easy to find as before. And certainly nothing sustained. Those days in July, when four hours of sustained fighting, reshipping and more fighting were the norm ... that sort of thing is something only talked about now in comms. The halcyon days.
Most of the fighting, the last couple days, were centered on the old stomping grounds of Kourmonen. Mainly between Agony Unleashed and Late Night Alliance.
Agony is wracking up stupid loss after stupid loss, as usual, since they moved to faction warfare. Agony has become sort of a joke among most of the alliances down here. People mostly view them as killboard padding. Pro-tip: if Late Night starts praising and congratulating you for all the good fights, you know you're getting rolled. Late Night doesn't praise any group unless that group is making their killboard look fantastic.
By way of comparison, Agony has lost 9.4B ISK in ships since October 01, while Late Night has lost 3.8B ISK.
It's weird. Agony had such a strong rep as elite PvP. They were one of the powers in Syndicate. Yet, they are getting nothing but curbstomped down here in Amarr/Minmatar lowsec.

Today there was apparently some action for Fweddit. Mainly Drewex whelping fleets, though a bunch of kills were had too. All this judging from the Jabber broadcasts I was receiving, play-by-play on the fleet action, and the numbers showing up on the killboard. I wasn't in the mood for whelping ships, so did some other stuff out-of-game.
Yesterday was enjoyable. Not much in the way of kills, but Late Night did follow a Drake fleet of ours back to Egghelende. We ended up harassing Susan Black.
For some odd reason, she docked in our home station, in a Drake. Without an insta-undock bookmark. I don't know if she simply had a brainfart, or if she didn't know which station was ours. But for the next hour and a half she wasn't going anywhere. She had a few of her boytoys circling station at about 250km. An interceptor, an SFI, and something else cruiser-sized. We weren't taking the bait. Susan kept trying to undock, and we kept locking her up. She'd dock. Try it all over again a few minutes later. Drewex even brought out his Archon to sit on the undock, because he likes sitting in Archons. Shalee and iLaw joined some of the fun in the last half hour.
Susan characterized the evening as her and her three cubs trying to bait our Archon off station. That is some weak spin to an embarrassing end to her evening.
She eventually gave up and clone jumped. How do we know? She disappeared from local, while in station, yet remained online. Some of us have her on watchlist. Nobody could be bothered to return to station 24 hours later, in the event she tried to rescue her clone. We don't have that Goonswarm-style conviction to the long harassment.
At some point during the festivities one of her pets mentioned that she couldn't see any of the kind stuff we were writing to her in local. That she's had Fweddit on block for quite a long while. I think I said "What a bitch!" at hearing that. Not a classy move, to be sure. But seriously, her ego is that fragile? The ribbing that psychologically damaging that she blocked an entire corporation? Christ, I can recall the constant barrage of shit talk I received from Fweddit when I was in Late Night. Never once did I consider blocking them. Perhaps my ego doesn't bruise as easily. She has all of Ka Pow Pow and Hans to mend her bruised ego, though, if that's what she requires.
Now she's claiming that I'm stalking her. People are so quick to throw that around. I've talked to her three times maybe, and never once in-game. I think she's mainly pissed off at a couple of my recent photoshop turns, with her character featuring (above, for instance.) What the hell does she expect? She is the Queen of the Minmatar. A faction warfare celeb. She blogs. She's trying to run a TheMittani.com-style news site for faction warfare. She says she works with numbers, yet doesn't know the difference between interpolate and extrapolate. She feeds Hans faulty statistics, and Hans eats it up to the point where he's reciting them on podcasts as facts (Susan could probably be considered the faction warfare CSM representative, Hans as her proxy.) All that and she doesn't expect to be the butt of some jokes?
Maybe she expects to be treated differently because of her gender? If she wants to put herself out there, write some stupid shit, spin events in ridiculous ways, then people are going to mock her. I could give a shit and a half that she's female. She wants to be a celeb, she's to be scrutinized like one. What's the point in closing yourself off from all criticism? Then you're left with only your circle of yes-men.

It is now a known thing that Bob FromMarketing is a member of a rather famous royal family. When he's not at the polo grounds, helping his uncle with his organic garden, or visiting sick children, he likes to spend his time being decidedly unroyal by shitting up all the local chats. Bob is a hero and proving to be the most suitable gentleman ever to be Fweddit's diplomat.

You neglected to mention the nearly 22 billion isk worth of ships that Agony has destroyed so far in the month of October. Hope the flipping of Kourmonen hasn't caused too much inconvenience for the Minmatar.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary. Hurray for LP.

ReplyDeleteIs it Harry? I bet its Harry. He's the only royal I can actually picture doing something even remotely like this
"... helping his Uncle ..."
DeleteIf Charles is the Uncle...
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Poetic+Stanziel
ReplyDeleteShame you don't get points for talking shit.
Poetic Stanziel and Suzan Black? Hmmm I seem to remember a movie that started out like these two "When Harry met Sally." :-)
ReplyDeleteAgonoy got wrecked in Syndicate by us so they moved to FW where they continue to get wrecked. Agony, come back to Syndicate please
ReplyDeleteI don't get it; couldn't Susan have just used her fleetmates as insta-undocks if she wanted to get out? Maybe they really were trying to bait you?
ReplyDeleteAlso, at a minimum Bob should be blocked in chat by everyone in Eve. Maybe blocking all of Fweddit is just a natural extension of that.
In any case, it's fun to read your blog and comments elsewhere in the Eve blogosphere. Keep on keeping on.
She did dock in our station, after all, with a Drake. So you're crediting them with a level of gameplay intelligence ...
DeleteThat comment could be a wank but if not there's a much more likely candidate than Harry. The person I'm thinking of is known to act unroyal, has the same familial relationship hinted at by Poetic, and fits into the sweet spot of Eve's demographic based on age and interests. It doesn't really matter though. To me he's just Bob "not the kid toucher" FromMarketing.
ReplyDelete56 ships to 30 on the Cynabal loss BR? 62 vs 25 on the Archon loss BR? I hope when you say "stupid loss" do you mean that they attacked that badly outnumbered? Or that they were stupid enough to be out when The Blob came by? I'd submit the first might be stupid (overconfident?) but the second is trollololol.
ReplyDeleteAnd besides, as an ex-Unista, I know you know that a blob (and yes, 62 is a blob anywhere outside of Goon and TEST territories) of T1 cheap ships can often smash a handful of expensive ships - this makes what you have there unsurprising.
Nah. Just that they like to whelp really expensive ships.
DeleteTBH Poetic, your recent posts in the past month has shown alot of ad hominem attacks on Susan. Not very cool. I know she can spew out propaganda but that tends to be directed at the organizational level. Not at a personal level like you are continuing to do with post after post.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't be any better than she would be if you kept doing this. Just a thought.
On another note, Agony has actually proven to be the force that is helping Amarr take systems back. They just took back Kourm which is a huge deal and I believe they can hold it with their firepower. The thing with Agony that most people don't always get is that they just do their job silently. So alot of people don't always give them full credit.
ReplyDeleteThey dont get credit because fighting agony is like fighting the uni - they just wait until they have numbers on you and then use a crapton of jams. they're a school and teach simple tactics but fly shiny ships and can't take a stand up fight
ReplyDelete"By way of comparison, Agony has lost 166 Ships (10.29B ISK) and killed 309 Ships (24.94B ISK) since October 01 (2.4:1 ratio), while Fweddit has lost 249 Ships (5.11B ISK) and killed 114 Ships (2.93B ISK) (3:5 ratio)."
ReplyDeleteFTFY. Maybe don't cast stones if you can't hit shit in five of eight throws.
Fweddit isn't known as elite PvP.
DeleteThen who are you to talk about who is "sort of a joke" and who isn't.
DeleteBecause Agony had this pretty solid rep, before heading down here ... and all I've seen is them getting facerolled. I've been wondering if maybe their rep has been undeserved.
DeleteIf there was one person switching sides from Minmatar to Amarr who I thought *wouldn't* get caught up in this whole "Minmatar are so mean, Minmatar lie about everything, Minmatar don't fight fair, we fight fair, we tell the truth, we are so nice" bigoted rhetoric, it was you. Sad to say that I am disappointed. Especially with this childish fixation on Susan Black.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, you'd be an interesting subject for a study on partisanship and party identification.
Who said anything about "all the Minmatar"? I'm only discussing Susan Black. Do you suggest that she's an unbiased reporter of FW events. Perhaps you're a tad blinded?
DeleteI never much liked her when I was Minmatar. I never much liked KPP when I was Minmatar. You knew that. I never said much, because I didn't want to rock the boat. I thought she was an idiot then, I think she is an idiot now. I'm just free to express the opinion now.
