The Thorax was lost. Then the capsule. Turns out both were naked as the day they rolled out of their Gallente factories. Surprising to say the least, especially in lowsec.
The pilot of the Thorax, did not take the loss very well. He messaged Vana theHunter, one of the perpetrators of the attack.
From: CelimbrimborIt's not strange to see angry evemails after losses, but a 15M ISK loss? A bit of an overreaction, by my reckoning. This guy is looking to a terribly frustrating time in EVE if he's already getting hysterical over little losses. He needed some advice and perspective. I convo'd him, but he'd already rage logged. I sent him an evemail instead.

You wanker! seriously, you attack an unarmed thorax for what? I am trying to get across to my homeworld and you decide what to just shoot anything that moves. So much for good will and all that shit. I just bought that thorax for 15mil ISK and just started playing the game. Fuck you!
From: Poetic StanzielHopefully this guy does stick with the game. Hopefully he does gain a little perspective on his loss. So far, no response. He may still be angry.

You're flying a combat ship. It should be assumed by anyone that it is armed. Most people will lock up a ship immediately, without zooming in on your bracket to see if it's equipped with weapons.
You chose to fly it in lowsec, unarmed. The error lies with you.
Now you can pout and cry that you lost a ship. Stamp your feet and return to Lord of the Rings Online (your name gives it away), or you can man up and admit you made the error.
If you want to learn PvP, get with a good PvP corp. Fweddit, for example.
I hope you stick with EVE Online. It is a rewarding game. But you need an attitude adjustment, or you're going to be angry all the time.
Poe.

If you can't remember when 15 million ISK was a lot of dough, you don't really remember being a noob. Poor guy, if he had come across my crosshairs, he would have survived, if I could convince the local sharks to leave him alone.
ReplyDeleteDo you normally enter into an interview with everyone you lock up, before killing them, to see if they're a worthy target?
DeleteIf he hadn't flipped out over the loss, he may very well have been showered with money. We once killed a relative newbie in a Proteus (I think they skilled straight into it) ... they were sad, but took the loss well, within 10 minutes, they were showered with enough ISK to buy two Proteuses.
Sure he was. I smell bullshit.
DeleteProbably not BS. I didn't witness this specific instance but I was in a fweddit fleet in a similar situation. It was either a Legion or a Loki (this was a few months ago). He took the loss of his ship pretty well but explained that he had all his ISK invested in it. He was invited into our fleet, was given some fweddit style conditions, met said conditions and received enough ISK from everyone in that fleet to at least replace his ship.
Delete@2ndAnon You're referring to what I was referring too. I thought it was a Proteus ... but you're right, it was a Loki.
Delete@1stAnon You're an idiot who feels threatened by us because we really don't live up to your big, bad prejudices.
DeleteThis is lowsec. After I kill someone, I MIGHT convo them IF they seem to be worth teaching. I recruited 3-4 people that way.
ReplyDeleteI agree, especially for a partial/full refund, and you could have a new recruit who will soon be taught the error of his ways.
DeleteYou showed more restraint than me. ~MY HOMEWORLD~
ReplyDeleteIt has been quite a long time since I rolled a new char, but don't newbies still get a lowsec warning when they first leave the "safety" of highsec?
ReplyDeleteOur usual response to these kind of loss rages is to offer them PVP training :)
I remember when 1 M ISK was allot and trying to make just that first M as a noob!
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time i went to lowsec, it was on a Courier Mission for a Production Agent being a new noob, before they became Dist Agent.
I had no idea what lowsec was or what it meant. Somehow I flew in and out delivered the courier package unharmed, completed the mission and still didn't know what lowsec was. It was only some time shortly learning stuff i knew what lowsec was and that prior i went to lowsec and didn't give it much thought. That wasn't repeated again on such missions, learned my lesson.
If you search his kill logs... He already lost another Thorax(which was fitted rather well with T2 EW modules for a newbie) in a low-sec not long before. Thus, as a real newbie(yeah, 10mil is an extremely hugh dough for me. I cannot even fit a PvP cruiser properly), I concur this guy is a scam or someone's alt that was doing something. W/E the reasoning of visiting low-sec, he knew what would happen and what happens in the low-sec. If he didn't learn anything after being blown up by a battleship, well....
