Fweddit - Venture Adventure

So, I wrote that off-the-cuff DasherKat post a few days ago, about using a Venture mining frigate as a combat frigate. I didn't put a lot of thought into the fit. Basically just threw something together really fast. It's a pretty terrible fit, but then it was supposed to be. The veneer of usability, while not being particularly usable at all.

Last night, James Msyu posted a pic showing us all the Ventures he has sitting in Egghelende. Something on the order of 130 of them, because they take dick all to construct. Or some such reason.
The Venture Adventure Doctrine
It was either Sharasa or Brimtak who had the bright idea to take out a fleet of them. Because, why not? We're Fweddit. This is what we do. You can't be serious all day long, fighting the Minmatar, plexing, devising serious doctrines to counter enemy doctrines. You got to let off steam with the comedy fleets. You can't be serious all the time. It'll drive you bittervet. (A lot of groups miss this aspect of EVE.)

I sent out a Jabber broadcast, asking all nerds to join the Venture Adventure. And twelve of us responded. Three fits came out of some quick theorycrafting. A laser fit. A hybrid fit. And an autocannon fit. Then someone had the bright idea of adding shield remote repair into the extra high slot. We decided on the autocannon fit being the best with the shield transport.

You can switch out the gyro for a damage control, if you want a bit more EHP. And if you're flying with a bunch of people, then some of the fleet will equip a webifier, others a short point, and others a long point.

The remote repping actually worked out okay. My ass was saved at one point because of it. It does have a really short range, so anchoring up on someone is necessary to ensure range is kept. If you don't wish to do remote repping, then stick a neutralizer in that high slot.

Tilting at Windmills
Now with a fleet ready to roam, we thought we'd find a novice plex (because who wants to be dropped on with cruisers) and some people who might want to have fun. I'm not sure why we thought of Late Night and having fun as two things that go together. Perhaps brainwashed by a number of good fights we've had the last couple of days. Of course, good fights involving sixty people per side, does not translate into fun fights with comedy fits.

We park ourselves in a novice plex in Huola and call out our enemies.

Their offgrid boosting link logs into system. Seriously? We then warped away. Dicks don't get fights.

If there's anything Late Night is particularly good at, it's tilting at windmills. "Oh noes!!!11! Twelve Ventures, quick get the Loki links!!!1!"

Bringing Our Gift To The Deserving
So we flew out to Isbrabata. Ushra'Khan knows the meaning of a fun engagement.

Granted, they were a little put off at first. Acting all serious and shit about the game and our presence. Probably because they've been hanging out a tad too much with Late Night lately. That's gotta rub off on you, a bit. It's a stink that's hard to wash off.

But once we told them, that we were there to have a fun fight and eventually whelp, they were cool. They even brought smart bombing Thrashers. Now if that isn't in the spirit of having fun, I don't know what is. That sort of comedy fitting wouldn't dawn on somebody from LNA.

The Battle Summary: Cultural Victory!

We also apologize for not allowing you to blow up all twelve Ventures. Blame it on Sharasa. When you destroyed his ship, he warped away in his pod, but used fleet warp accidentally. Thus, the remaining miners left the field. The intent was to let you destroy it all, while we got a couple more juicy kills on your fleet.

The next time we head out for a Venture Adventure, we will properly teach Sharasa how to warp off his pod. We promise.

***

I'd like to say one more thing to Ushra'Khan. When we fly out seven jumps to your home system. We're looking to have a good time. Kill some ships. Get some ships destroyed. We're not looking to outship you, blob you, whatever. We've had a bunch of great fights lately. So don't get all serious business on us. When we're fighting you in Izzie, and then when we're dropped on by Late Night, because you batphoned them to skew the odds, well, then our relationship stops being fun and we have to start treating you like we treat Late Night. We really don't want to do that. So, you know, lay off the batphone occasionally. Let's keep the good fights, the fun fights, let's not get all serious business with each other. We already have that relationship with Late Night, we don't need another stern uncompromising girlfriend. We need a mistress.

Be our mistress, Ushra'Khan.
