My first big bump in readership happened in April 2012. My one-year mark playing EVE Online, and also the month I discovered Reddit. I had a couple CCP bumps that month as well (linkage via the official EVE Online Twitter and Facebook accounts.) The numbers fell off after that, but I remained consistently at double the readership I had the previous year. It was looking like I'd maybe plateaued. Which was fine. I had a collection of readers. Many of them. Which is a great thing for anyone writing a blog. If we write words, we want them read.
Then December 2012 happened. The old April 2012 record was broken. Again, I thought, this is going to be hard to top.
This January has been stellar. Not a single CCP bump, yet I'm averaging over 2000 pageviews per day. And not a single day that dropped below 1200 pageviews. Again, I'm thinking, this is going to be very hard to top going forward. I'm not quite sure how to account for January, yet. I don't think I've done anything in any particularly different way.
So, to all the people that read my words. Those that enjoy them. Those that hate them. Thank you. I wouldn't have this platform without your interest. Going forward, I'll endeavour to improve. Those that enjoy my style, I hope you'll enjoy it more. Those that hate my style, well, you'll probably continue to hate, but that's okay. Dissent is as important as assent.

ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate the bump you get from EN24. Every time Riverini runs one of my pieces I get 5000+ page reads. Regardless, good job and keep it up!
ReplyDeleteDarn, the most I ever got from EN24 was 200-300, and that is being generous. I've never topped more than 3,100 in a day and that was after getting a hit from Reddit.

Psh, I'm like 50 of those views per day, 49 of which are me being dissapointed to see that nothing has changed since that last time I was here. Plus, I enjoy your list of blogs you follow on the right, which is another great use of your blog. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteIsn't more about if EN24 get more visitors, you get more visitors, if Reddit continuesly get more users, you get more? The same apply for your Twitter, every Twitter account grows up in followers number. I would say it is time mixed with your interesting topics.
