January Round-Up

The alt is finally trained into a jump freighter. Sold the standard freighter for 1.5B ISK, and purchased the Anshar for 7B ISK. The cyno alt is all trained too. A week of not training for Poetic to train Maple.

Still haven't actually jumped the new ship, though. I slow-boated it down to my cache of Omen Navy Issues and Imperial Navy Slicers from Jita. Not going to risk the ship until I know exactly what I'm doing.

The freighter has a big load of oxygen isotopes in the hull. Waiting. For the cyno alt, I have to make three clones, distribute them about New Eden. I have to figure out the best frigate to purchase for cynoing (the alt is Amarr and have been told that the Amarr rookie ship's hold is not large enough to store all the liquid ozone that will be required.) Maple has Cynosural Field Theory III. So once I figure out a cheap and effective ship, to then get a cache of those ships, plus liquid ozone to the spots I choose for the alt's clones.

I've been looking for a tutorial on placing cynos at stations, but to no avail. If anybody has a link to a tutorial, it would be appreciated.

Maybe I'll make my first jump on the weekend. Would love to get those cruisers and frigates to Egghelende.

Now that the Amarr situation in the warzone is far more stable, I'd love it if Fweddit finally moved out of Egghelende, to Dal, perhaps. I realize that the mechanics of faction warfare give zero benefit to staging in the warzone, and that Egghelende is actually the smarter location, but it would feel better being in the warzone. Maybe that thinking is just the old roleplayer in me creeping out.

Ripard was raked over the coals earlier in the week for making a couple of unfortunate analogies to a) slavery, and b) rape, when he was extolling his opinions on the power imbalance between highsec players and those that make a living off their destruction.

Whether you think the raking was justified is not really the question. Some were offended, obviously.

What's amusing is that when Hans Jagerblitzen compares the struggle of the CSM to 18th century American slavery (CCP being the harsh, unrelenting slave owner in his analogy), he gets a free pass from the community.

I suppose it doesn't really matter whether you're calling out the n-word on corp comms, or comparing CSM/CCP disagreements to colonial American chattal slavery. S'alls good.

***

I heard earlier, via Jabber, that Kamela is on the verge of falling. To be expected, I suppose, ever since Agony Unleashed left the warzone. I don't have many ships parked there (maybe three or four), so getting them out before downtime will be no big deal.

***

We actually saw some Late Night Alliance up around Ardar last evening. I think some of us thought that CCP must have up and moved Huola.

We encountered them while on a missioning fleet. Yeah. You heard that right. Missioning. It's actually part of Fweddit's evil plan to ensure that all our newbros cannot leave the militia, as we systematically destroy their Minmatar standings.

***

I spent the weekend with In Exile. It was relaxing. Spent most of it just plexing about with Shalee, and wondering how so many kills seem to fall straight into Almity's lap.

And Durrdurrdurr is back. You can tell when nullsec has become boring as hell, because the diehard nullsec guys make their way back to Fweddit. Xolve of Goonswarm. Durrdurrdurr of Test.

***

I'm feeling a bit burnt out on EVE lately. I may absent myself for much of February. Get back to some languishing projects, and maybe play a bit of Path of Exile.

  1. Before any of you comment on Fweddit's corp name being "I Whip My Slaves Back and Forth". That is strictly in reference to Amarr lore. There is no direct reference that can be drawn to 18th century colonial America.

Roots. Django Unchained. Those references are unassailable.

    1. So instead of being a movie reference, your alliance name makes light of the suffering of anyone who was ever held in forced servitude? Good to see you haven't lost your sense of perspective.

    2. Yes. We make fun of the suffering of a fake race of people in a game with made-up lore.

    4. That's an issue to be taken up with CCP.

    5. The other anonymous dude is racist. Not all Minmatar are black.

    6. Not all Minmatar are black (they has Asians and British punk rckers) and not all Amarr are white (they also has Asians).

  2. Hey I'm playing Path too. I'm rolling an Mixed damage Ranger for my first, what have you liked?

    1. I have a ranger too. I may switch. I'm finding that it's difficult to retreat and fire towards what I'm retreating from. Also finding that shit is usually on top of me well before I know it's there ... some of the mobs move fast. So the ranged aspect in those situations is a detriment.

I might try a straight out warrior-type class.

    2. There are two ways around that issue, Decoy Totem(not that rare and can pick it up as a quest later) and using armor/energy shield armors + rain of arrows.

  4. Hans is a fool. Good riddance. The sooner we no longer have to hear him on podcasts the better. It is tiring watching him go down on CCP over and over again. Wipe your chin, Noah.

  6. For egg station, just control space after 5 seconds, light cyno, jump.

Else open the tactical overlay and make sure you are at 0 on station but everything in your 5km circle is clear. (Making sure the furthest edge from that circle is still at 0.)

    1. How do I ensure the furthest edge is still at zero, without flying to the furthest edge? (Or is that what must be done?)

      Delete
    2. Use a t1 salvager I belief, one of those modules(hacker/salvage/analzyer) has a 5km Range.

    3. Re: "How do I ensure the furthest edge is still at zero"

You can't, except by flying there. Happily, you can use the 10km line on your tactical to make sure you're in the right place (or close enough).

a Salvager I does indeed have a 5km range if you really want to be sure (it adds an actual 5km sphere to your tactical) but I don't bother.

Grab a couple of these to put with your stacks of cynos and LO and an Amarr cyno noobship will do fine. There's no frigate cheaper than ~2k ISK or smaller packaged than 5m3. IIRC you need them for any cyno noobship at Cyno 3 anyway.

The best way to learn what makes a good cyno spot is to grab a Salvager 1, open up the Tactical overlay (giving you a 5km bubble around you) and manuver it until it's not touching the station model. Drop a can and bookmark that spot. Then move 5km (10km is safer and often possible) from that spot directly away from the station and see if you're still in the docking ring (overview telling you that you're 0 from the station). If it all checks out and no point 5 (or 10)km from your bm/can is outside the docking ring, and no point on the station is within 5km of the bm/can (via salvager range bubble), you have a good station cyno spot.

Eventually you can eyeball it with just the tactical overlay or just by memorizing station models.

Also, test it out a couple times on SISI. If you screw up there, who cares?

If that's confusing, hit me up in game and I'd be happy to give you pointers.

  11. so much for "less spergy posts in 2013"....because as usual you're complete overreacting to a comment that had nothing to do with ccp or slavery, like a good little sperglord irrelevant bitter wannabe.

    1. Overreaction didn't stop anybody from responding to Ripard's comments.

Hans drawing any comparison to American slavery is unfortunate and callous.

If he wanted to draw a relationship to Tarantino and violence, perhaps he should have donned his thinking cap and used Reservoir Dogs as his point of comparison instead.

  12. I'm keeping it positive…. everyone needs a break sometimes especially on high octane activity like EVE and Blogging. Enjoy the time away to recharge your batteries. I'm more than confident you will have lots to put the fire of opinions under when you return to the soapbox and EVE.
